【2015 NSW Gateball Championships in Australia】

In doubles section, a Japan doubles team was a championship!

“2015 NSW Gateball Championships” was held at the Jambaroo Croquet Club in New South Wales state, Australia from November 27 (Fri) to November 29 (Sun), 2015.

Japan teams joined in the game besides Australia and the matches were played in both of doubles and team sections for three days.

The number of participating team was 18 teams such as 15 teams from Australia and 3 from Japan in doubles section, and, in team section, 12 teams such as 11 teams from Australia and 1 from Japan.

Australia teams consisted of teams from Queensland state, Victoria state, Canberra of the capital city, and the local New South Wales state.  On the other hand, Japan teams which were organized by 6 players coming from Kanagawa and Hiroshima Prefectures consisted of three teams for doubles section and 1 team for team section.

There were differences in how the game got on between Japan and Australia; no places for team gathering and playing matches per court, and having tea breaks per a few games.  So, at first, Japanese players seemed to be confused but delightfully enjoyed their games at the well-kept natural grass court in a relaxed mood at last.

The result of doubles section was that Kanagawa team in Japan (a pair of Ms. Moro & Takahashi) won the first place.

In team section, after the league matches of 12 teams, Kew team (Victoria state) in Australia which got 10 wins was the championship.  The Japan team took the second place due to goal differential though they got 10 wins.

The results of the game were released on the site, “Gateball Score” created by Australia, and you can see it on below site.
