Australian Gateball Championships


Caloundra

2003 Australian gateball Championships was held by Australian gateball promotions (AGP) in the scenic spot, Queensland Caloundra in Australia on November 1- 2. 
Having participated is 2 Japanese teams, 4 Chinese Taipei teams, 1 New Zealand team, and 8 Australian teams in local.
In Caloundra it was early summer. The temperature there went up to 30 degrees. The fierce match was done in the wonderful, natural turf court where management was complete.
A lot of appearances of the player who had participated in 2003 the 8th World Championships held in Toyama city were seen.
In addition, some teens gateball player was playing in the team in local, and more and more great advancement in strategy were seen.
The referee technology also raised the level every year, and games were managed by the mutual judgment system.
The victory is "Chinese Taipei" team. Japanese teams showed the good games. "Hiroshima B team" won the third place.
Gateball in Australia is not still familiar to general people, but a lot of local newspapers and TV covered though the World Cup of rugby was being held.
Mr. Peter Tavender, Immediate Past President of AGP and Mr. Keith Mcleod, Director of AGP talked enthusiastically, "We wanted to devote our energies to the spread of the gate ball more and more in the future."


The Hiroshima team from Japan held the demonstration game in the opening ceremony .

Local newspaper "Sunshine Coast daily" introduces the director of Queensland Sports bureau, Mr. Terry Mackenroth who served as the opening of a ball game.
