The 11th South America Championships
Young Brazilian teams got prizes
The 11th South America gateball Championships was held in the Sao Paulo City,
Brazil on July 19.. This Championships is held once every two years by the South
America Gateball Union. 160 teams participated from six countries (Brazil, Bolivia,
Paraguay, Uruguay, Peru, and Argentine). Recently in Brazil, gateball skills of
the young men are remarkable. Young Brazilian teams won prizes. The Board of Director
Meeting of SAU was held at the same time. At the meeting Mr. Toru Hondo was elected
next Chairman of SAU. Also they decided that next Championships would be hold
at Paraguay in 2005. |

The new President of USA Gateball Federation
He is playing GB in Los Angeles
WGU staff visited USA GB Federation last month. There are many gateball players
in Los Angeles. Mr. Katsumasa Toyama, new President of USA Gateball Federation
is a member of the team DIEGO in L.A. that won the 3rd prize in Toyama World Championships
2002. He said, “I'll do my best with USA GB Fed. Staff.” |

Russia
The forth year of GB promotion in Russia
Skills up
WGU staff visited the Russian city of Sakhalin for GB promotion activities on
July 10. Promotion activities in Russia entered their 4th year this year. In Sakhalin
students of support club are playing gateball. Their skills of GB are steadily
improving. |
