We now know how to score and judge points on our own An exchange tournament in
Sakhalin to celebrate the 3rd year of GB Hard training for the “16th Birth Place
Cup All Japan GB Game”
From July 5, a total of 8 members from Memuro-cho, Hokkaido and officials from
the Japan GB Union visited the Russian city of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (Sakhalin) for
GB promotion activities.
Promotion activities in Sakhalin entered their 3rd year this year. The local Japanese
Society and instructors and students of the sports club who received instruction
last year set out courts in preparation for the visiting group.
On this occasion, in preparation for the “16th Birth Place Cup All Japan GB Game”
to be held on August 31 and September 1 this year in which 2 teams from Sakhalin
will participate, more advanced instruction on the finer points of play, manners
and tactics, etc. was given. Since the members from Sakhalin have improved little
by little with regular practice, their understanding of the instruction was quite
quick. Memuro-cho's GB Association President Mr. Ito who gave instruction to
the first group said, “If we meet you in the tournament, me may lose!” of the
improvement in the group he instructed. Although the group's tactics are a little
rough in parts, they just might do what President Ito said.
Many of you may still remember Konstantin, the 3-year-old boy who was badly burned
12 years ago and underwent a major surgery in Sapporo. He is training hard and
is expected to participate in the tournament. While a practice game was going
on, children on the next court could be seen absorbed in practicing striking.
From now on, the Japan GB Union intends to promote grassroots international exchange
through Gateball and plans to set up an organization to promote Gateball in Russia. |
