Two representatives of JGU visited the Manila city office on March 18, and they
presented 8 tool sets of 10 new sticks and balls. JGU had the chance of the visit
by a telephone call from a Philipino woman who lived in Canada last July. She
told JGU that in Philippine they could not get balls of gateball.By this report
JGU knew that the gate ball was active in Manila, and presented not-in-use balls.
Because it was understood that the activity of gateball continued starting with
Kiyoshi Oosawa who contributed to the friendship of Japan and the Philippines
by the investigation afterwards having presented tools to the Manila City in 1993,
the official position member was dispatched. He died in January this year at the
age of 95 unfortunately. The MLML foundation is managing “Manila gateball league"
in the Manila City in cooperation with the elderly person welfare section in the
city now.
The game population is about 300 people. The park in five places in the city
is the practice places. Most of those who loved to play gateball in the city participated
in the district tournament on March 18-21.
“Tools will be contributed in the future, the judgment etc. are dispatched furthermore,
