Asian Cities Gateball Invitational Championship 2001 in Hong Kong 
Hong Kong GB Association held Asian Cities Gateball Invitational Championship 2001 on Dec. 16 to celebrate the Fifteenth Anniversary of GB development in Hong Kong.
A total of 36 teams participated : 8 local teams from Hong Kong, 23 from China, 3 from Chinese Taipei, 1 from Japan and 1 from Macau.
At first the teams were divided into 8 courts in which league tournaments were held. The top teams from each court then played in tournament to decide the champion team. The winner was Macau team. The second prize was the Hong Kong team which was young, famous and strong in Hong Kong. The management of Championship was also wonderful. About 60 persons such as the director, referees, and volunteers had prepared the court by their hands. The appearance that a young woman umpire did the referee smart as for the judge was impressive. Those who love GB in Hong Kong are about 1000 people now. It is a feature that there are a lot of family team. Young teamsi20-50 years oldjincrease recently, too.
“I want to dispatch four teams to the world championship of this year”, said Lai Huck Son, Hong Kong GB Association Hon. Adviser. Also Macau gateball association holds about 200 GB members established in 1997 is the same situation as Hong Kong.“I think about the dispatch of one team in the world championship.
