Cheju Island was selected as the venue for the 9th World Championship in 2006!

It was determined to use “Kang Chang Hak stadium” in Seogwipo
city, Cheju Island, the largest resort spot in South Korea as the venue for the
9th World Championship that is to be held in 2006. This venue has a natural lawn
and is fully furnished with a main track field with the spectators' seats and
a supplementary track field. It is situated on a hill with a full view of the
venue used for the Soccer World Cup co-hosted by the Republic of Korea and Japan
and of the western coast. At the "Exclusive Gateball field" situated inside Cheju
city stadium on Cheju island, the 2nd Cheju International Free City Commemorative
International Exchange Cheju Games were held between 11~12 of November, and 62
teams participated including representatives from Japan. The Japanese teams were
defeated in the preliminary league, and the strength of the South Korean teams
was outstanding in these games. |
