These days, the spread of GB is expanding to various places in the Philippines, especially in the Sebu island.
Three years ago, the GB promotion in the Philippines started among the senior generation by the support of Philippine Department of Tourism.
Japanese GB players visit every year and have held friendly Gateball Games.
Last year GB courts were newly built at the park in Mandaue City.
Senior people and young students are always playing GB there.
The member of the Japanese Association that settles down in the local is teaching the game method and the rules.
"2008 The 3rd Japan-Philippine Friendship Gateball Games " on Sunday, December 7 last year, was held in co-sponsoring of Philippine department of Tourism and Mandaue city.
Having participated are 1 Manila City team, 2 Japanese Association teams, 2 local senior teams, 1 local elementary school children team from Bacolod City and 2 Japanese teams.
It became a heavy squall that was peculiar to the subtropics on the way of the opening ceremony, and the site was removes to the indoor tennis court in haste. Games was restarted.
Games was divided into two courts. The preliminary league games were done first. 2 teams of each court advanced to the final tournament.
In results, the winner was Manila City team, 2nd place was Bacolod City team.
Bacolod City team and the Cebu island team, they fought well, and the game with a Japanese team demonstrated the result of the practice in a short term enough though GB career was short.
Both Mayors of Mandaue City and Cebu city are supporting GB actively. GB is spreading to all generations rapidly in Cebu island. |
