Gateball was Introduced to Ugandan Media at the Press Tour Hosted by the Japanese Embassy in Uganda!
On February 11, 2018, Gateball was introduced during the press tour organized by the Japanese Embassy in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda in Africa. This press tour was organized for the purpose of showing the Japanese contribution in the area of sports in Uganda preceding the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
Mr. Robert Bakaze, a student of Makerere University of Uganda, who had visited Japan to learn Gateball skills and its operation of Gateball tournaments in July 2017, demonstrated Gateball demonstration during the press tour. Since his return home, he had been working very hard to promote Gateball in Uganda. On this occasion, H.E. Mr. Kazuaki Kameda, Japanese Ambassador to Uganda tried to experience Gateball.
Reporters from three main newspapers in Uganda attended this press tour. Watching the Gateball games and the serious plays for the first time, they expressed very positive comments on Gateball.
