Dear Member Organizations of the ASIA GATEBALL UNION (AGU),

The AGU has been proceeding with preparations for the 8th Asia Gateball Championships scheduled for 2020 in collaboration with the Chinese Gateball Association, the host organization, but as you know, the COVID-19 pandemic that began in early 2020 due to the novel coronavirus still shows no signs of slowing.

Upon lengthy discussions with the Chinese Gateball Association, the AGU has made the difficult decision to push the 8th Asia Gateball Championships back to FY 2021. Specifically, the following reasons led us to this difficult decision:

(1)   Although countries and regions are working to deal with the pandemic, the AGU and host organization would be unable to guarantee the safety of participants and other related personnel.

(2)   Due to entry restrictions and the cancellation of international flights, international travel would be extremely difficult.

The AGU will continue working closely with the Chinese Gateball Association and inform you of any decisions made regarding the schedule, venue, or possible event cancellation due to COVID-19 or other considerations.

We pray for a speedy end to this pandemic and for the health and stability of our friends and colleagues around the world.
